Choosing a battery for the BYD S8
The S8 was offered for the 2009 model year. We match the battery to the label on the unit already in the car.
Coupés often sit for days between drives, and that is when a battery quietly discharges. If yours is a weekend car, ask us about a maintenance charger when we fit the new battery.
What a BYD needs from its battery
Many current BYD models use a 12V lithium iron phosphate battery made for the car, not a conventional lead-acid unit. Some models and older petrol cars take an ordinary DIN battery, usually H5 or H6. It has to be confirmed from the VIN, model by model.
Where the car has a 12V lithium battery, it cannot be replaced with a lead-acid one of the same size, and a flat one is normally recovered by boosting through the jump points. Send the model and year first so the right equipment comes out.

What battery does the BYD S8 use?
For the S8 we normally fit a maintenance-free flooded battery. Capacity and size vary with engine and year, so we check the label on the old battery or the VIN before bringing the replacement.
How long does a S8 battery last in the UAE?
In UAE heat a car battery typically lasts two to three years. Covered parking and a longer drive each week help it reach the upper end of that range.
Can you replace my S8 battery in a basement car park?

Does the S8 need the battery registered after replacement?
