How long should I drive after a jump start?
Drive for at least 30 minutes without stopping the engine. A battery that was only discharged will recover. One that is worn out will be flat again by morning, which is why we test it before leaving.
Is a jump start safe for a modern car?
Yes, when it is done with a surge-protected booster and the correct connection points. Jumping from another running car with cheap leads is what causes voltage spikes.
What if the car will not start even after a boost?
Then the battery has usually failed completely, or the fault is the starter or alternator. The technician tests on the spot and can fit a new battery or arrange recovery.
