Choosing a battery for the Microcar Flex
The Flex ran from 2014 to 2017. Later cars in that range often have start-stop and need EFB, while earlier ones use a standard battery, so the model year decides what we bring.
As an SUV it carries a larger battery than a small hatchback, and the AC and rear climate work hard in UAE traffic. We bring the full-capacity unit, not a smaller one that happens to fit the tray.
What a Microcar needs from its battery
European cars use DIN batteries with recessed terminals, most often H5 or H6, with H7 on larger engines. Stop/start versions usually need EFB or AGM. Older cars without stop/start run a standard flooded battery.
The battery height matters on these cars because the hold-down clamp grips a lip at the base. Some older models also ask for a radio code after the battery has been disconnected, so it helps to have it to hand.

What battery does the Microcar Flex use?
For the Flex we normally fit a EFB battery. Capacity and size vary with engine and year, so we check the label on the old battery or the VIN before bringing the replacement.
How long does a Flex battery last in the UAE?
In UAE heat a car battery typically lasts two to three years. Covered parking and a longer drive each week help it reach the upper end of that range.
Can you replace my Flex battery in a basement car park?

Does the Flex need the battery registered after replacement?
On most Microcar models of this age the battery management system should be told a new battery is fitted, and we do that on site. The technician carries a diagnostic tool and checks for stored battery faults either way.
