Choosing a battery for the Subaru Impreza WRX STI
The Impreza WRX STI ran from 1992 to 2014. Later cars in that range often have start-stop and need maintenance-free flooded, while earlier ones use a standard battery, so the model year decides what we bring.
Compact cars use smaller batteries with less reserve, so short trips with the AC running drain them faster. The good news is that replacement is quick and the batteries are easy to stock.
What a Subaru needs from its battery
Most Subarus take JIS batteries, usually 55D23L, with a larger 75D23L or similar on the bigger engines. Recent models with auto start-stop generally need an EFB of the Q-85 type. The label on the old battery confirms it.
Fitting a standard battery to a start-stop Subaru usually switches the start-stop function off and shortens the battery life. Match the type that came out of the car.
Send a photo of the label on your current battery, or the registration card, and we will confirm the exact specification before the technician leaves.

Subaru Impreza WRX STI battery questions
What battery does the Subaru Impreza WRX STI use?
For the Impreza WRX STI we normally fit a maintenance-free flooded battery. Capacity and size vary with engine and year, so we check the label on the old battery or the VIN before bringing the replacement.
How long does a Impreza WRX STI battery last in the UAE?
In UAE heat a car battery typically lasts two to three years. Covered parking and a longer drive each week help it reach the upper end of that range.
Can you replace my Impreza WRX STI battery in a basement car park?
Yes. Our service vehicles fit standard basement height limits. Share the level and bay number and let security know a technician is coming.
Does the Impreza WRX STI need the battery registered after replacement?
This model does not normally need battery registration. The technician carries a diagnostic tool and checks for stored battery faults either way.
Battery trouble right now?
Send your location and car model. A technician is usually with you in 20 to 35 minutes.
No call-out surprises. You get the quote before we move.
