Choosing a battery for the MG Extender

The Extender has been on sale since 2019 and is a current model. Cars of this age carry a lot of electronics, and most need a maintenance-free flooded battery matched to the factory specification.

As an SUV it carries a larger battery than a small hatchback, and the AC and rear climate work hard in UAE traffic. We bring the full-capacity unit, not a smaller one that happens to fit the tray.

What a MG needs from its battery

Most MG petrol models take a DIN battery in H5 or H6, flooded on the basic versions and EFB where stop/start is fitted. The larger turbo SUVs can take H7. Sizes shift between model years, so the label is the reference.

On stop/start MGs, a plain flooded battery tends to disable the stop/start function and wear out early. The electric models, such as the ZS EV and MG4, still carry a 12V auxiliary battery that fails like any other.

How long does a Extender battery last in the UAE?
