Choosing a battery for the Mercedes-Benz W123
The W123 was built from 1975 to 1986, before start-stop was common, so most examples run a conventional maintenance-free battery. Age matters more than mileage on these cars: cables, terminals and the alternator are worth checking at the same visit.
Saloons like this are daily commuters, and stop-and-go traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road with the AC on full is hard on a battery. A test every spring catches a weak one before it strands you.
What a Mercedes-Benz needs from its battery
Most modern Mercedes models take an AGM main battery, usually H7 or H8, with H6 on the smaller A-Class and CLA. Where it sits depends on the model. It can be under the bonnet, in the boot or under a seat.
Many models carry a second, much smaller auxiliary battery that supports stop/start and the gear selector. An "Auxiliary Battery Malfunction" message points at that unit, not the main battery, so the two should be tested separately.
Send a photo of the label on your current battery, or the registration card, and we will confirm the exact specification before the technician leaves.

Mercedes-Benz W123 battery questions
What battery does the Mercedes-Benz W123 use?
For the W123 we normally fit a maintenance-free flooded battery. Capacity and size vary with engine and year, so we check the label on the old battery or the VIN before bringing the replacement.
How long does a W123 battery last in the UAE?
In UAE heat a car battery typically lasts two to three years. Covered parking and a longer drive each week help it reach the upper end of that range.
Can you replace my W123 battery in a basement car park?
Yes. Our service vehicles fit standard basement height limits. Share the level and bay number and let security know a technician is coming.
Does the W123 need the battery registered after replacement?
This model does not normally need battery registration. The technician carries a diagnostic tool and checks for stored battery faults either way.
Battery trouble right now?
Send your location and car model. A technician is usually with you in 20 to 35 minutes.
No call-out surprises. You get the quote before we move.
