Choosing a battery for the Hyundai Ioniq
The Ioniq has been on sale since 2016 and is a current model. Cars of this age carry a lot of electronics, and most need a maintenance-free flooded battery matched to the factory specification.
Compact cars use smaller batteries with less reserve, so short trips with the AC running drain them faster. The good news is that replacement is quick and the batteries are easy to stock.
What a Hyundai needs from its battery
Hyundai uses both DIN and JIS batteries depending on model and year. The Accent, Elantra and Tucson usually take H5 or H6, and older Santa Fe and larger models often take 80D26L. Cars with idle stop and go generally need AGM.
Some Hyundai hybrids have no separate lead-acid 12V battery. They use a 12V lithium unit built into the hybrid pack, with a 12V battery reset button near the steering wheel to wake it after it has gone flat. The VIN tells the technician which system the car has.
Send a photo of the label on your current battery, or the registration card, and we will confirm the exact specification before the technician leaves.

Hyundai Ioniq battery questions
What battery does the Hyundai Ioniq use?
For the Ioniq we normally fit a maintenance-free flooded battery. Capacity and size vary with engine and year, so we check the label on the old battery or the VIN before bringing the replacement.
How long does a Ioniq battery last in the UAE?
In UAE heat a car battery typically lasts two to three years. Covered parking and a longer drive each week help it reach the upper end of that range.
Can you replace my Ioniq battery in a basement car park?
Yes. Our service vehicles fit standard basement height limits. Share the level and bay number and let security know a technician is coming.
Does the Ioniq need the battery registered after replacement?
This model does not normally need battery registration. The technician carries a diagnostic tool and checks for stored battery faults either way.
Battery trouble right now?
Send your location and car model. A technician is usually with you in 20 to 35 minutes.
No call-out surprises. You get the quote before we move.
