Choosing a battery for the GEO Storm
The Storm was built from 1990 to 1993, before start-stop was common, so most examples run a conventional maintenance-free battery. Age matters more than mileage on these cars: cables, terminals and the alternator are worth checking at the same visit.
Coupés often sit for days between drives, and that is when a battery quietly discharges. If yours is a weekend car, ask us about a maintenance charger when we fit the new battery.
What a GEO needs from its battery
Older American models use BCI group sizes such as Group 65 or Group 78. Most newer ones have moved to DIN sizes like H6 and H7, with AGM on anything with stop/start. Cranking power matters more than usual on the V8s.
Some older GM models use side terminals with bolts, which need the right battery and not an adaptor. Several American saloons and SUVs also hide the battery in the boot or under a seat.

What battery does the GEO Storm use?
For the Storm we normally fit a maintenance-free flooded battery. Capacity and size vary with engine and year, so we check the label on the old battery or the VIN before bringing the replacement.
How long does a Storm battery last in the UAE?
In UAE heat a car battery typically lasts two to three years. Covered parking and a longer drive each week help it reach the upper end of that range.
Can you replace my Storm battery in a basement car park?
Yes. Our service vehicles fit standard basement height limits. Share the level and bay number and let security know a technician is coming.
Does the Storm need the battery registered after replacement?
This model does not normally need battery registration. The technician carries a diagnostic tool and checks for stored battery faults either way.
