Choosing a battery for the Ford Freestar
The Freestar was built from 2004 to 2007, before start-stop was common, so most examples run a conventional maintenance-free battery. Age matters more than mileage on these cars: cables, terminals and the alternator are worth checking at the same visit.
As an SUV it carries a larger battery than a small hatchback, and the AC and rear climate work hard in UAE traffic. We bring the full-capacity unit, not a smaller one that happens to fit the tray.
What a Ford needs from its battery
Older Fords and many trucks use the BCI Group 65 battery. Most newer models take DIN sizes, usually H6 or H7, and EcoBoost cars with auto start-stop need AGM. The technician confirms from the label or the VIN.
Recent Fords have a battery monitoring system that tracks the age of the battery. It should be reset after a replacement, otherwise the car keeps limiting charge and switching off features as if the old battery were still fitted.
