Choosing a battery for the Daihatsu Altis
The Altis has been on sale since 2000 and is a current model. Cars of this age carry a lot of electronics, and most need a maintenance-free flooded battery matched to the factory specification.
Saloons like this are daily commuters, and stop-and-go traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road with the AC on full is hard on a battery. A test every spring catches a weak one before it strands you.
What a Daihatsu needs from its battery
Most Japanese cars take JIS batteries, from NS40 and NS60 on small cars to 55D23L and 80D26L on saloons and SUVs. Standard flooded batteries are the norm. Models with idle stop usually need an EFB, and some hybrids use a small AGM auxiliary battery.
JIS batteries come with two terminal post sizes, and the small cars use the thinner one. The L or R at the end of the code is the terminal layout, so a battery that looks identical can still have leads that will not reach.
Send a photo of the label on your current battery, or the registration card, and we will confirm the exact specification before the technician leaves.

Daihatsu Altis battery questions
What battery does the Daihatsu Altis use?
For the Altis we normally fit a maintenance-free flooded battery. Capacity and size vary with engine and year, so we check the label on the old battery or the VIN before bringing the replacement.
How long does a Altis battery last in the UAE?
In UAE heat a car battery typically lasts two to three years. Covered parking and a longer drive each week help it reach the upper end of that range.
Can you replace my Altis battery in a basement car park?
Yes. Our service vehicles fit standard basement height limits. Share the level and bay number and let security know a technician is coming.
Does the Altis need the battery registered after replacement?
This model does not normally need battery registration. The technician carries a diagnostic tool and checks for stored battery faults either way.
Battery trouble right now?
Send your location and car model. A technician is usually with you in 20 to 35 minutes.
No call-out surprises. You get the quote before we move.
