Choosing a battery for the Chery E5
The E5 ran from 2011 to 2016. Later cars in that range often have start-stop and need EFB, while earlier ones use a standard battery, so the model year decides what we bring.
Saloons like this are daily commuters, and stop-and-go traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road with the AC on full is hard on a battery. A test every spring catches a weak one before it strands you.
What a Chery needs from its battery
Most Chery models take a DIN battery, usually H5 on the Arrizo and Tiggo 4 and H6 on the Tiggo 7 and 8. Versions with stop/start generally need EFB or AGM. Specifications change with each facelift, so the label is checked.
A common complaint is a battery that drains after the car has been parked for a few days. Before blaming the battery, the technician tests it and measures the standing current, because a module that stays awake will flatten a new one just the same.
