Choosing a battery for the Alfa Romeo 147
The 147 was built from 2000 to 2010, before start-stop was common, so most examples run a conventional maintenance-free battery. Age matters more than mileage on these cars: cables, terminals and the alternator are worth checking at the same visit.
Compact cars use smaller batteries with less reserve, so short trips with the AC running drain them faster. The good news is that replacement is quick and the batteries are easy to stock.
What a Alfa Romeo needs from its battery
European cars use DIN batteries with recessed terminals, most often H5 or H6, with H7 on larger engines. Stop/start versions usually need EFB or AGM. Older cars without stop/start run a standard flooded battery.
The battery height matters on these cars because the hold-down clamp grips a lip at the base. Some older models also ask for a radio code after the battery has been disconnected, so it helps to have it to hand.
Send a photo of the label on your current battery, or the registration card, and we will confirm the exact specification before the technician leaves.

Alfa Romeo 147 battery questions
What battery does the Alfa Romeo 147 use?
For the 147 we normally fit a maintenance-free flooded battery. Capacity and size vary with engine and year, so we check the label on the old battery or the VIN before bringing the replacement.
How long does a 147 battery last in the UAE?
In UAE heat a car battery typically lasts two to three years. Covered parking and a longer drive each week help it reach the upper end of that range.
Can you replace my 147 battery in a basement car park?
Yes. Our service vehicles fit standard basement height limits. Share the level and bay number and let security know a technician is coming.
Does the 147 need the battery registered after replacement?
This model does not normally need battery registration. The technician carries a diagnostic tool and checks for stored battery faults either way.
Battery trouble right now?
Send your location and car model. A technician is usually with you in 20 to 35 minutes.
No call-out surprises. You get the quote before we move.
